This is a food web that includes the Alpine Ibex. The arrows point to the organism that gives it energy. So the Ibex gives energy to a golden hawk when the golden hawk consumes it. The mushrooms are symbolizing the decomposers. The decomposers consume the organisms when they die.
If a toxic chemical were to be introduced to the plants in the food web, there would be an extremely negative impact. Because of bioaccumulation, the Producers would become poisoned and then the Primary Consumers would eat those plants. When they would eat the toxic producers, they would accumulate the toxic chemicals in their own bodies. Then, because of biomagnification, when the secondary consumers and the tertiary consumers would eat the infected organisms, they would also become infected with the toxic chemical. Eventually, the whole food web would be poisoned with the chemical and the animals would die off because their source of food would be wiped out.
