About The Alpine Ibex
This is an Alpine Ibex. It is strictly herbivorous. It mostly eats small branches, leaves, and moss. If the leaves that they eat are too high our of reach, they will get onto their hind legs and reach for it. The Ibex is known to climb almost 90 degree angles to lick salt deposits off of the top of mountains.
The Alpine Ibex mainly lives in European Alps, French Alps, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, and Bulgaria. The species was once confined to a National Park in Italy, but it has now spread to many different countries. An interesting fact about the Alpine Ibex is that it climbs mountains to graze for food. It also will sometimes climb on its hind legs to lick salt deposits off of the sides of rocks and mountains.
I chose the Alpine Ibex because I saw it on a Tumblr post and I thought it would be fun to learn more about it and do a project on it.
